Housing disrepair complaints for Liverpool Housing Trust tenants

If you are a tenant in a Liverpool Housing Trust home, they have a legal duty of care to ensure that your home meets housing standards and is a safe place for your whole household to live. As a landlord, their legal responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to, ensuring that you have:

  • A functioning heating system
  • Safe access to electricity, gas and hot water
  • Safe flooring and stairs
  • Operational sanitary systems i.e. toilet, sinks, bath

So, for example, if your staircase bannister is not secure, or step treads are broken, it’s the responsibility of Liverpool Housing Trust to get the bannister, handrail and steps fixed so that you, and everyone else who lives with you, can safely navigate the stairs in your home.

Here at CEL Solicitors, we believe that every tenant has the right to live in a safe environment, so part of our job is to help ensure that Liverpool Housing Trust fulfil their obligations to their tenants when it comes to repairs and maintenance.
