Have You Been Contacted by Fraudsters Claiming to Represent CEL Solicitors?
We are aware of a number of incidents of people being contacted by impersonators claiming to represent CEL Solicitors.
These impostors use false social media accounts, phone numbers, messaging apps, online adverts and even websites in an attempt to steal money – often pursuing people who have already fallen victim to fraud.
At CEL Solicitors we are no strangers to the tactics of scammers as we deal with hundreds of cases of fraud each and every day. Below are 7 tips you can use to avoided scammers and sleep soundly at night knowing you are speaking with a legitimate and regulated solicitor firm.
1) Only Use Official Contact Information
If you are ever in doubt about who you are speaking with, you can call our official freephone number and speak with a member of our team.
Freephone number: 0808 273 0900
This number is free to call from UK landlines and mobile numbers.
If you have already started a case with CEL Solicitors, our team will call from the following number.
Outbound number: 0151 329 3837
Add this number to your contact list so you always know when we are calling you. Please do not dial this number as it cannot receive calls.
Contact us via email by sending your questions to:
Or submit an online contact form:
Contact Form – English – CEL Solicitors
Why can I see different numbers on your site?
We use special services to create special phone numbers on our website so that we can better help potential clients looking to make an enquiry. Although we have these numbers, you can always contact us on our freephone number (0808 273 0900) to speak with a member of our team within office hours.
2) Only Use Official CEL Solicitors Social Media Accounts
If you have been contacted on social media by somebody claiming to represent CEL Solicitors, please double check that it is a legitimate profile.
Below you can find a full and complete list of our social media accounts.
Facebook Twitter / X Instagram TikTok LinkedIn
If you have been contacted by any social media account not listed you should immediately cease all communication and speak with a member of our team via one of the above channels for further advice.
If you have provided personal details or money up-front to a fraudulent account, you should report the incident to Action Fraud and your bank as soon as possible.
3) Make Sure the Site is Genuine
It is relatively easy for a tech-savvy scammer to replicate a website to a high level of accuracy. Unfortunately, there is very little that can be done to stop this, and nothing can be done until the fraudulent site is discovered.
If you find yourself on a website which looks suspicious, please be careful and do not give away any of your personal details.
Many cloned websites look identical to the site they are impersonating; however you can check the URL at the top of the page to make sure you are on the genuine site.
For CEL Solicitors, this URL is https://celsolicitors.co.uk
If you have fallen victim to a cloned website we may be able to help. We were previously able to recover £40,000 for one client who deposited money with a cloned investment company.

4) Have You Been Contacted by Somebody Outside the UK?
We are a Liverpool-based law firm that operates across the UK, and many of our service areas are limited to those in England and Wales.
Address: CEL Solicitors, 6th and 12th Floor, 20 Chapel Street, Liverpool, L3 9AG.
We are a multicultural office with many wonderful colleagues and a diverse range of accents; however, we will only ever call from a UK phone number. If you receive communications from a non-UK phone number, website, or social media account please do not be fooled.
As mentioned previously, all calls from CEL Solicitors will show as 0151 453 0455, so please do add this to your contact list for peace of mind.
5) Use the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Register
We are regulated by the SRA (number: 633955), and a list of our company directors can be found freely on Companies House.
To verify the identity of any UK solicitor firm, you can visit the SRA website and consult their Solicitors Register.
If you would like to confirm that CEL Solicitors is legitimate, you can search the SRA register for “CEL Solicitors”. This will bring up a top result for Cheshire Estate and Legal Limited.
CEL Solicitors is a trading name of Cheshire Estate and Legal Limited (Company Number: 10370954).
Clicking this profile will indicate how long we have been registered for, where our office is based, our SRA and company registration number, and, importantly, our verified website address (www.celsolicitors.co.uk).
6) Always Look at the Reviews
Before trusting any company with your money and personal information you should first verify that the company is trustworthy and reliably. A great way of doing this is by looking at their online reviews.
In the case of CEL Solicitors, you can find our reviews on all major platforms like Trustpilot, Google Reviews, Facebook Reviews and Review Solicitors.
Most review platforms will also have a direct link to the company’s website which you can use.
7) We Never Ask for Money Up-Front
The vast majority of our claims operate on a no-win, no-fee basis, meaning you will never be asked for money upfront.
In the rare circumstance we cannot accept a case on a no-win, no-fee basis, this will be explained fully by a trained member of our team.
If you are at all worried, please use any of the previously mentioned contact methods to verify the identity and legitimacy of the person you are talking to.
Bonus tip! We Never Make First Contact
We value our clients’ privacy, time and safety. Because of this, we will never be the first to initiate contact. We do not send unsolicited messages or calls to our clients under any circumstances.
We never cold-call/cold-message clients via WhatsApp, Messenger or Telegram, and we never ask for payment or personal information through these platforms. We only use our official website https://celsolicitors.co.uk/ and our official email addresses ending with @celsolicitors.co.uk.
Scammers often set up accounts under the name of CEL staff members – frequently claiming to be Chloe Roche and Ryan Beeley. Our staff members will never contact you using their own social media or telephone number under any circumstance.
If you receive any suspicious communications claiming to be from CEL Solicitors, please do not respond, do not click on any links, and do not provide any information. Instead, contact us immediately on 0808 273 0900 or info@celsolicitors.co.uk and report the incident to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/.
We take these matters very seriously and we are working hard to stop these scammers and to protect our clients and the public.
