In December, Jessica Hampson, owner and director at CEL Solicitors, caught up with Sam Evans, managing director of Gather Social. The innovative agency, which prides itself on disruptive communications, found out what motivates Jessica and how she has disrupted the ‘traditional’ Law firm model creating a truly modern firm of solicitors, bringing legal services into the 21st Century.
Q – A background on you and your business.
“Happy staff, make happy clients, make happy profits”.
When Jessica set up CEL Solicitors she had a clear vision; to disrupt the traditional legal model and create a modern and dynamic law firm. With over 10 years’ experience in top 50 Law firms, some of which included toxic working environments, Jessica knew it was time to set up her own company that looked after its people and has not looked back since.
Q – What’s the best part of your job?
“Loving what I do!”

Q – Biggest Setbacks
“Failing Forward”
Jessica sets a company theme each year and for 2020 that was “to fail forward”. Jess has taught us all this past year to have a healthy attitude towards making mistakes and to embrace our failures by learning from them. Q – What’s your biggest inspiration?
“Preach”
Jessica spends part of her day listening to podcasts or reading books. Her most recent podcast and what gives her the biggest inspiration is, The Hip Hop Preacher. Alongside podcasts, Jessica finds her biggest inspiration from mentoring university students and from CEL Solicitors’ staff.
Jessica ensures that all staff are heard and has equipped the office with an anonymous suggestion box and amphitheater where everyone can share ideas.
CEL solicitors’ inspiration doesn’t stop there, we have our very own Jay-Z room, which includes Jessica’s favourite quote: “Difficult takes a day and impossible takes a week… I do this in my sleep”
