Staff at CEL Solicitors have been donating essential food supplies to Micah Liverpool, a social justice charity that is helping people struggling with the cost-of-living crisis in the city.
Set up by Liverpool Cathedral, Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King and St Bride’s Church, the charity aims to help local residents living with social injustice and poverty.
It runs a range of projects including providing emergency food aid to those in need. It does this by holding two weekly food bank sessions, in which it offers three days’ worth of emergency food for each guest.
In the last six months, it has supported around 6,500 guests, including over 1,400 children – something that CEL Solicitors, through its CSR committee, was keen to support.
To help raise funds, staff at CEL Solicitors held a bake sale and made donations totalling £250, which was spent on essential supplies.
The Liverpool-based law firm has now also created a permanent donation box at its offices on Chapel Street so that CEL staff may continue to support Micah in this important cause.
Commenting on the initiative, Brady Irvine, Senior Operation Analyst Manager at CEL Solicitors, said:
“The rising cost of living is plunging the most vulnerable members of our community into crisis. Sadly, demand for foodbanks is higher than ever with Micah Liverpool delivering around 300 food parcels each week to people in need.
“CEL Solicitors, through its CSR committee, is keen to support our local community and feels privileged to be able to work with this wonderful charity.”
