Staff at CEL Solicitors volunteered to collect donations at Tesco on Deysbrook Lane to support the North Liverpool Foodbank. Armed with shopping lists, they’ve been encouraging shoppers to choose one extra item to support local people facing hardship.
All donations go to the local foodbank, which forms part of the Trussell Trust – the UK’s largest network of food banks. Designed to help individuals and families in crisis, it provides emergency food supplies to those in need.
CEL Solicitor’s CSR committee found out about this volunteering opportunity through St. Andrew’s Community Network, which runs the foodbank located at Clubmoor Community Centre.

Commenting on the volunteering opportunity, Karen Birch, an audit solicitor at CEL Solicitors, said: “It was so rewarding to be able to volunteer, during work time, and be able to give back to the local community.
“With the rising cost of living, foodbanks are more important than ever before, so it was lovely to see firsthand, and contribute to, the work of this amazing charity.”
Following the drive for donations, we were overjoyed to hear that £489.50 was raised in cash, and 1,303 kgs worth of food (equal to around £2208) was donated by shoppers to North Liverpool Foodbank. This will help feed 145 individuals or 69 families of 4 at a time when people need it most.
