Barbara, Salford – £6,000 compensation
The client was living in a council-owned property that was suffering from damp and mould to the interior of the property, defective plasterwork, broken lights in communal and a defective toilet.
We spoke to Barbara about her claim after she decided to pursue legal action following more than a decade of living with leaks and damp. The initial letter of claim was sent out in January and we settled with the landlord just 6 months’ later, with the claimant receiving £6,000.00 in compensation as well as an extensive schedule of works to be carried out to this property.
“CEL Solicitors treated with the utmost respect from day one, making me realise that my living conditions were not being adequately supported by the council.
After meeting and being interviewed by one of CEL’s team, I knew that I was in good hands.
Every facet of disrepair was looked at, photographed and recorded, whilst every effort was made to allay my fears of not being listened to by the powers that be.
As a result of CEL’s intervention, the affected areas were looked at jointly between the council surveyor and CEL’s own surveyor and work started to find the leak and redecorate.
Every effort was made to ensure that my flat was receiving the best course of action and every telephone conversation was backed up by confirmation letters and I am glad to say that my compensation was received.
I am very satisfied with the elevated level of professionalism displayed by CEL staff, I would like to extend my gratitude to all those workers at CEL.”
